The Custom Jewelry Process, Explained Step by Step
The biggest fear with custom jewelry isn't the cost — it's the uncertainty. Here's exactly what happens, in order, from your first message to the piece in hand.
Step 1: Consultation (30–45 minutes)
Virtual or in-person, no obligation. We talk through your vision, budget, timeline, and any inspiration you have — even if it's three photos of three different rings. This is where we figure out what's actually achievable within your budget, honestly, before anything is designed.
Step 2: Concept and sketch
Based on the consultation, we develop initial concepts and talk through direction with you. This step exists to catch big changes early — before CAD, when they're free and instant, not after.
Step 3: 3D CAD design (~48 hours)
Once the concept is approved, you receive a precise 3D rendering within approximately 48 hours — viewable from every angle, at true proportions. This is the step that removes the guesswork: you see exactly what you're getting before any metal is touched.
Step 4: Revisions and approval
You review the CAD and request any adjustments — stone size, band width, prong style, anything. Revisions at this stage are normal and expected. Production only begins once you've signed off completely.
Step 5: Production (2–4 weeks)
Your piece is cast, set, and finished entirely by hand. We use ethically sourced metals and GIA- or IGI-certified stones. This is the only step where you're not actively involved — because everything that required your input already happened.
Step 6: Delivery
Your finished piece arrives in premium packaging with a certificate of authenticity and full material documentation — everything you'd want if you ever need to insure or appraise it.
Why this order matters
Every decision point happens before production, not during. That's intentional — it's what makes custom jewelry predictable instead of a leap of faith. You're never signing up for a surprise.
