A Men's Wedding Band Guide: Metal, Width, and Finish
Men's bands get far less attention than engagement rings, but the choices matter just as much for something worn every single day.
Width: comfort vs presence
Men's bands typically run 4–8mm wide. Narrower bands (4–6mm) feel closer to unnoticed once worn; wider bands (7–8mm+) make more of a statement and suit larger hands proportionally. There's no wrong choice — try both in person before deciding.
Comfort-fit profile is worth the small upcharge
A comfort-fit band has a slightly rounded interior instead of flat, which makes it noticeably easier to put on and take off and more comfortable for hands that work with them all day. We recommend this profile by default for men's bands.
Metal: durability matters more here
Because men's bands see more daily wear and tear — manual work, gym, tools — tungsten, titanium, and platinum are popular for their scratch resistance. Gold remains the classic choice and can be finished to resist marks better than most people expect.
Finish options beyond high polish
Brushed, matte, and hammered finishes are increasingly popular for men's bands — they hide small scratches far better than a mirror polish and read as more understated day to day.
Two-tone and inlay details
Mixed metals (e.g. a brushed titanium band with a polished gold inlay) or a subtle inset stripe add character without sacrificing the discreet, low-maintenance look most men want.
